The best ways to keep yourself hydrated

This likely is nothing new of fact to say but yes, drinking water is the best and cheapest way to stay hydrated and rehydrate. Not just about staying hydrated but drinking enough water each day also helps to regulate body temperature, keep our joints lubricated, prevent us from infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep organs functioning properly. Staying well-hydrated also improves the sleep quality, cognition, and mood.

Unlike other beverages, water doesn’t contain added sugars or calories, making it ideal to drink throughout the day or specifically when you need to rehydrate. Let’s look into a few ways to keep yourself hydrated:

  1. Don’t wait till you’re thirsty to drink. Develop the habit of sipping water steadily throughout the day. If you feel thirsty, you’re already slightly dehydrated. When the weather is hot or especially if you’re active, drink more fluids than usual.
  2. Flavour your water. You can add flavour with fresh fruits or a splash of fruit juice to your water if plain water tastes boring to you.
  3. Water-rich fruits and vegetables. Try to consume fruits and vegetables that contain plenty of water in addition to healthful nutrients such as watermelon, strawberries, peaches and pineapples among fruits and cucumbers, leafy greens or tomatoes are some water rich vegetables.
  4. Stay inside when it gets too hot. On very hot days, try to stay indoors. Avoid sun exposure, especially in the afternoon when the rays are strongest. Try to plan your outdoor activities early in the morning or at evenings.
  5. Be aware of the signs of dehydration. Pay attention to how much you’re able to drink. If with a fever, vomiting or diarrhoea, you should drink plenty of fluids.
  6. IV drip for hydration. The IV Drip for Hydration replenishes your body with essential fluids, electrolytes, and removes wastes and toxins after an illness or rigorous workout. An IV drip for hydration will help you to regain proper hydration allowing your body to be balanced and regulated. The IV drip for hydration is available at all eight of our Southern California locations and through our in-home service to help you get back on your feet, feeling replenished and well hydrated.
