Getting the flu is no fun. In fact, it’s pretty terrible – fever, chills, vomiting, diarrhea, and more. Protect yourself each year with an annual flu vaccine to help improve your chances of skipping the flu. While it does not guarantee you won’t contract the flu, getting the flu shot can help to significantly reduce the impact of the flu if you do in fact contract it. Certain groups are encouraged to get the flu shot – elderly, pregnant women, children, and those working with children, among others.
If you have any questions or concerns about the vaccine, we encourage you to speak to your primary care physician. In addition, if you have any sensitivities or allergies to eggs or gelatin, you cannot get the flu shot. If you have previously had a reaction to the flu shot, you cannot get the flu shot. I’ve never gotten the flu shot before. Can I get it this year?
Yes, you can get the flu shot if you have never received it before. There is no requirement to have received it prior to start getting it now.
I’m allergic to eggs. Can I still get the flu shot?
No, if you have egg allergy you cannot receive the flu vaccine. If you have any specific questions about the vaccine, we encourage you to speak to your primary care physician.
